Monoisomed contains Isosorbide Mononitrate, a long-acting nitrate used to prevent and manage chronic stable angina pectoris. It works by relaxing and widening blood vessels, allowing better blood flow to the heart muscle and reducing its oxygen demand. Its sustained-release formulation ensures consistent relief from chest pain, improving exercise tolerance and quality of life in patients with coronary artery disease (CAD).

Uses:

  • Prophylaxis and treatment of chronic stable angina
  • Adjunct therapy in ischemic heart disease (IHD)
  • Improves cardiac workload in patients with CAD
  • May be used post-myocardial infarction under supervision

Key Benefits:

  • Reduces the frequency and intensity of angina attacks
  • Helps improve oxygen delivery to the heart
  • Enhances physical activity capacity
  • Supports long-term heart health in CAD patients

How It Works

Isosorbide Mononitrate is converted into nitric oxide in the body, which relaxes smooth muscles in blood vessel walls. This results in vasodilation, reducing the heart's workload and oxygen requirement, especially during physical or emotional stress.

Common Side Effects

  • Headache (very common, especially at the start of therapy)
  • Dizziness or flushing
  • Hypotension (low blood pressure)
  • Nausea or light-headedness

Safety Warnings

  • Pregnancy:Not Advised
  • Lactation: Avoid
  • Children: Not recommended
  • Elderly: Increased sensitivity possible; monitor for hypotension.
  • Alcohol: May increase side effects like dizziness and low BP.
