Prozodom is a combination of Pantoprazole, a Proton Pump Inhibitor (PPI), and Domperidone, a dopamine antagonist with prokinetic and antiemetic properties. It is indicated for the treatment of acid-related gastrointestinal disorders associated with delayed gastric emptying, nausea, and dyspeptic symptoms.

Uses:

  • Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD)
  • Acid reflux
  • Gastritis
  • Peptic ulcer disease
  • Heartburn
  • Dyspepsia associated with nausea
  • Acid-related disorders with delayed gastric emptying
  • Functional dyspepsia
  • Reflux esophagitis

Key Benefits:

  • Provides effective relief from acidity and heartburn
  • Reduces gastric acid secretion
  • Helps relieve nausea and vomiting
  • Improves gastric emptying
  • Helps relieve symptoms of acid-related disorders while promoting healing of erosive esophagitis and peptic ulcers, when indicated.
  • Improves patient comfort and digestion

How It Works

Pantoprazole irreversibly inhibits the H+/K+ ATPase enzyme (proton pump) in the stomach lining, significantly reducing acid production. Domperidone enhances gastrointestinal motility by blocking dopamine receptors, facilitating faster stomach emptying and reducing nausea and vomiting.

Common Side Effects

  • Headache
  • Diarrhea
  • Nausea
  • Dry mouth
  • Flatulence
  • Abdominal discomfort
  • Constipation
  • Dizziness

Safety Warnings

  • Use with caution in patients with liver disease.
  • Not recommended for patients with gastrointestinal bleeding, obstruction, or perforation.
  • Long-term PPI therapy may increase the risk of Vitamin B12 deficiency, hypomagnesemia, osteoporosis-related fractures and Clostridioides difficile-associated diarrhoea in susceptible individuals.
  • Domperidone should be used cautiously in patients with cardiac rhythm disorders or those taking QT-prolonging medicines.
  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding: Use only if prescribed by a healthcare professional.

Important Note
